Six months and going!

Today i have been in the US for 6 months! It feels much longer, but time has flown by. Im happy with how things have turned out. The only thing still missing is my Green Card. Thomas and i are going so good and things a now also financially falling into place.

Lots to tell. First of all my job. So im a hostess at Fishermans Wharf. Its ok, not the best job, but its something to do and brings in $$. I work with some nice people, although much younger usually and with babies. Not the place to find friends really. Its a Landry's owned restaurant. For people who dont know them, they also own for example the Rainforest Cafe chain. They have 300 properties all over the world. Including hotels and casinos. And as long as i work there, i get 50% off all of them!
But i have an interview tomorrow at a middle school here. For secretary to the principal. Thomas has been putting a good words in for me with people. I hope so much i will get it. Good holidays and $$! :)

Katje is doing well and growing like crazy. Still cute as ever though! And very curious about cords and open doors/windows. The other day i found a tiny little kitten outside work and i decided to catch it and call the shelter. My boss agreed and so it happened. It made me feel good even though my co workers thought i was crazy. You see that so much here, stray pets. Very sad.

One of our good friends Hayes left for Korea, it was sad saying goodbye, we will miss him. See pic! Also i have been trying to watch the cup. Holland is doing so well. I really think we have a chance!

Last night we came back from our Austin trip. It was short but sweet. We drove up with Bill and Amanda (Bill works in the theatre department of Ball High), first registered them at the conference place and then checked into the hotel. They had to go back for a session but i got to sit by the pool. We also realised that it was biker weekend, so it was busy! They came back and we all wend out for dinner at a south american place. Very good. Then ofcourse on to 6th Street! Austins nightlife street. I had in the meanwhile seen that Thomas' friend Nathan had his CD release party that night so we got ourselves on the guest list! There were some other friends of Thomas' college so he was happy! It was a lot of fun seeing everyone again ans to see Nathan play. Then back to the hotel and zzzzzzzzzz.
Next morning they left to the conference and i sat by the pool again. When they came back we drove around Austin and walked around the University of Texas campus. After we visited the Church of Scientoligy...for fun (dont worry). It was hilarious. There was no one in there except the people who work there. so we got all the attention. We think she knew we were joking though, but she told us about their beliefs and all that crap. Then on to Rachael and Nathans new apartment to say goodbye to everyone. It was a good trip! Made us think of moving there too...

Weather-wise things are going downhill! :) It is 95F/35C everyday now and very humid. The hurricane season has also started. Yikes! And how can i forget about the joyful politics news! Its finally decided and over (well for now..)

Our next trip is the weekend of 25th July for the family reunion. So we are excited about that. Until then.. work!

xx
